Recorded on the 14th of April 2005 in the Siberian botanical garden of Tomsk (mixed forest) (at 5628N, 8456E). Background species: Pyrrhula pyrrhula, Pica pica.

Common in our latitudes all the year round. Lives in winter only in settlements and their nearest outskirts.

Breeds in woodland, preferring deciduous or mixed wood with old hollow trees, and in parks and gardens of urban areas. Common and region-wide species.

Begins to sing regularly from about the 10th of February until the end of May. Only a few birds still sing in July, after the fledging of their nestlings.
