Recorded on the 13th of April 2005 in the southern outskirts of Tomsk (birch woodland along the river Tom’; at 56°26N, 84°57E).

Arrives when the first thawed patches of ground emerge from the snow cover. A few males winter in the south of the region.

Bird of woodlands and fields. Breeds commonly in bushy areas, woodland edge and deforested areas, in farmland and glades, clearings and edges of peat bogs. Common and region-wide.

Sings from March until mid-June.
