Recorded in May 2003 near Kolarovo village (15 km to the south of Tomsk) (mixed woodland; at 5620N, 8454E). Background species: Passer montanus, Parus montanus, Carpodacus erythrinus, Phylloscopus collybita, Fringilla coelebs.

Arrives at the period of foliage expansion. In Tomsk and its outskirts appears in about mid-May.

Inhabits thick, damp, shady deciduous forest, often shrubbery and waterside scrub. Absent from dense, tall woodland and bogs. Common species in floodplain habitats. Distributed over the whole region, but more common in the south.

Sings from mid-May until mid-July.
