Recorded on the 31st of May 2004 in the north of Tomsk (pine forest with bird cherry growth; at 5634N, 8455E). Background species: Pica pica, Turdus pilaris, Cuculus saturatus.

Arrives after the foliage expansion. In Tomsk and its outskirts appears in the final third of May.

Inhabits all types of woodland, with a preference for more open mixed coniferous forest with a rich element of birch, willow and undergrowth. Found in soggy upland country with bushes, at times also in well-wooded parks. Common and region-wide.

The main period of singing lasts from arrival until the end of June or mid-July.
