Song recorded on the 9th of May 2003 near Kolarovo village (15 km to the south of Tomsk), (mixed woodland; at 56°21N, 84°56E). Background species: Phylloscopus collybita, Gallinago megala.

Migratory species, but some birds winter in the south of the region. In years with abundance of rowan berries, winters in all places in a great number. After wintering returns before the snow thawing. In the Tomsk area appears usually in mid-April.

Breeds in various types of woodland and bush scrub, also birch and mixed forests in floodplains. Common and region-wide. More abundant in farmland in the south of the region.

The period of singing is short and lasts from the birds’ arrival until mid-May.
