Recorded on the 5th of April 2004 in the eastern Tomsk suburbs (mixed woodland; at 56°31N, 85°00E). Background species: Parus major.

Partly overwinters in the region, but most of the birds migrate in winter to more southern destinations and return in March.

Prefers deserted woods and open woodlands. Adapted to breed in proximity of man both in rural and in urban areas. Common and region-wide.

The breeding calls can be heard from March until the end of April.
